I’ve been to a few of these ocean innovation events and this really hits the nerve: the ideas are there, the founders are committed, but everyone’s pitching into a void when it comes to actual buyers. Unless regulators or big institutions come in early as anchor customers, the best prototypes just sit in limbo. The comparison to NASA’s milestone contracts is spot on. Oceans need their version of DARPA, not just demo days and awards.
How can we more systematically engage investors and potential customers in these conversations and truly become co-drivers of blue economy transformation?
